Get your MP moving

Thanks to the support of thousands around Australia, federal MPs are hearing our concerns about the massive cutbacks proposed for our suspended National Network of Sanctuaries: to the Coral Sea, Lord Howe, the Kimberley, the Great Australian Bight, the Perth Canyon, Bremer Bay and more.
The plan is working… We keep hearing from MPs who say they’ve been contacted by their local constituents and want to find out more. This is the crucial moment to tell your local federal MP they need to be your voice in the Environment Minister’s office, to make sure he rejects these devastating Abbott-era cutbacks.
Please take a moment to ask your MP if they’ve spoken about this to Federal Environment Minister Frydenberg, and tell them to get moving today as the Minister is making big decisions about these marine icons right now.
Don’t be put off if you’ve already contacted your MP – you’ll have even more influence if you get back to them again now. MPs measure how much their constituents care by how much effort they put into contacting them about an issue. The momentum is strong, and it makes your voice all the more powerful!
Please take a few minutes to send a message to your MP today, or you can even phone their electorate office and leave a message, or request a meeting.
I can’t overstate what an important moment this is in the campaign, and the influence you can have at this point. Together, we’ve built huge momentum since former Prime Minister Tony Abbott suspended our National Network of Marine Sanctuaries, and the Turnbull Government has now committed to get the Network in place by July 2017. But I need your help to make sure they do the job well.
Right now, Environment Minister Frydenberg is making big decisions about whether to accept or reject Abbott-era plans that have been released proposing massive cutbacks to marine sanctuaries in crucial hotspots around Australia. In order to get him to make a good decision, we need as many federal MPs to tell him this is what Australian voters – you! – want.
Our suspended National Network of Sanctuaries was the result of decades of science, work by all sides of politics, and overwhelming community support, including from the vast majority of recreational fishers.
This is a crucial decision making point and our combined strength can ensure MPs urge the Minister to go in the right direction! Please take a few minutes to send a message today. Your MP can make all the difference right now by stepping up and talking with Minister Frydenberg.
Thanks again for your support.
